Nautical Wedding Ideas
I don’t know about you, but lately I have been LOVING everything nautical coming out of weddings. I don’t know, maybe I’ve just always had a thing for boats, or maybe it’s that it’s the epitomy of coastal preppy style. Either way, if this is something you’re considering, I have loads of real wedding inspiration for you!
First off, stationery. Anchors and ropes make obvious (and pretty) motifs, and you can play off the ‘tie the knot’ theme as the seating plan and programmes above do. I especially like the step by step instructions for paper boats spotted at a recent corporate function organised by the Aleit Group. You could also go over all old sea pirate for your seating plan (bottom left) or try message in a bottle invitations to really engage your guests!
Lots of table inspiration above! Try ropes inside glass vases (varied) for a simple but very effective centrepiece, or use rope for each table number. Use the anchor motif at each place setting either in paper form (top centre and bottom left) or with a metal charm (top second from right) – don’t you also just love the napkins here stitched with co-ordinates? Stripes and lanterns make for gorgeous table decor, and I love the idea of the sailboat as a centrepiece, or lifebuoys at each place setting. You could also incorporate classic nautical elements like compasses and bells with your flowers and silverware.
Don’t forget the dessert! Love this elaborate nautical-themed cake, but if you want to keep it simple, flags are just as gorgeous. The compass-themed biscuits make adorable favours and would look brilliant at each place setting.
Get creative with your accessories and other details. How cute is this rope bouquet? And the Just Married lifebuoy? Not to mention the sailors’ knot escort ‘cards’ – or else why not set up a table with loads of nautical-style lanterns? So pretty. If you’re looking for your own accessories, look no further than this garter and headpiece.
Finally, if you don’t want to go nautical for your wedding, do it for your engagement shoot! All three of these shoots are adorable and will provide you with plenty of inspiration. Sources: Top, Bottom Left, Bottom Right.
